Who are custom medals for?
If we’ve learnt anything from all our years of experience producing bespoke medals –
and we’re talking about having created thousands of them – then it’s this: custom
medals are for everyone! They’re as much for brands, clubs, and events as they are
individuals and associations! From athletes to academics, golfers to gamers,
tournaments to tours we’ve got you covered!
In short, where there is a sense of achievement, an individual to reward or an
occasion to celebrate there can be a medal…and that’s what BespokeSportsMedals
are here for!
Why a custom medal?
We don’t believe that any one accomplishment is the same, so why should your
medal be any different? A medal can, and should, reflect the scale of achievement
as much as the uniqueness of the individual for whom it’s intended. And there is no
better way to achieve this than by designing your very own beautiful bespoke
keepsake!
A medal is, after all, more than just a reward. It is a statement, a record, a trophy and
a decoration all rolled into one! What better opportunity to express all this then than
with a custom design which nobody else will ever have.
How difficult is it to design a custom medal?
The short answer is: not as difficult as you might imagine it to be!
The team at BespokeSportsMedals have worked alongside a massively diverse
range of customers over the years: clients from different backgrounds and sectors,
some who displayed a thorough understanding of the medal-making process, others
for whom it was their first time.
Whether you’re a giant in your corporate field or a local appreciation society, a
national sporting event or an individual wanting to honour a loved one…it doesn’t
matter – everybody comes with different skillsets as far as design work is concerned
and we understand that.
Two of the most common aspects customers worry about / say to us are:
“I don’t know how to put what I’m seeing, in my head, into words”
and
“I’m concerned the medal won’t look the same as how I imagined it on paper”
One thing, then, is clear: it’s okay to be nervous during the design stage; it’s perfectly
understandable, in fact, because you want your medals to be perfect…the good
news is so do we!
Let’s take a closer look at those two popular concerns:
I don’t know how to put what I’m seeing, in my head, into words
Nobody said you had to! When it comes to designing a medal there is no right or
wrong way. We’ve worked with customers on their designs using all manner of
methods including using attachments and reference pictures, over email, by phone,
via videocall, or simply by implementing our free sample service, wherein we send
physical examples of previous medals for our clients to look at.
The design stage might start with a rough sketch, or just a few words, that try to
capture the spirit of your event, or what your medal means to you. On the other
hand, it may begin with a photograph. Perhaps you have one of a medal you like the
look of, that you want to use as inspiration? Or maybe that photograph contains an
iconic building, or an animal or a landscape, for example – something you want to
include in your design, you just don’t how, or where, or even if it’s possible at this
stage.
Designing a medal is a matter of communication, of course it is, but the process is
also one of trial and error. We’ve had customers who’ve been adamant they knew
what they wanted, only to use our free sample service then change their minds
completely.
I’m concerned the medal won’t look the same as how I imagined it on paper
If we’ve done our job properly, we can easily put this concern to bed. It is part of our
responsibility to you to help communicate all the different elements of your medal.
They might even be details you haven’t even thought about yet. What material is
your medal? What shape? What size? Has it got shiny plating, or antique? Any
engraving? All of these elements, and more, need consideration and will be
conveyed to you through artwork which will evolve as you make amendments. We
are always available to give you advice and recommendations and can work with
you on your design. By the time you sign off the final artwork you will have a very
good idea of what your finished medal will look like!
